Photo Restoration

Introduction
Hello and welcome to my new site. My name is Camille Laoang and I am a Brooklyn based digital photo restorer and retoucher. I have a fine arts background with a BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art. For over fifteen years, I was a vintage poster restorer. The skill set I developed restoring posters has translated very well to the realm of photo restoring and retouching which I began to do in 2006. Both kinds of work require an attention to detail and sensitivity that come naturally to me. Both kinds of work involve making an image look better than when I got it.

Philosophy
My approach to photo restoration is to correct imbalances and minimize visual distractions that occur as a photograph ages or is worn by frequent handling. While respecting and preserving the nature of the original photo, I work to restore the photo to as close to its original state as possible.

I carefully scan the photograph at a high resolution with a high quality scanner and restore the image using Photoshop.
